A policy that locals are currently interested in is building a new Stadium to meet the development of the local sports activities and attract cultural programs and sports events at national, regional, and international levels. The old stadium's infrastructure is too outdated, degraded, not qualified to host featured cultural and sports activities.
The current provincial stadium located in the center of Thai Nguyen city, Trung Vuong ward, larges about 3 hectares with 30,000 seats. Many years ago, Thai Nguyen Stadium was considered as a large-scale one of the Northeast region, the own field of Hanoi football club ACB (Hanoi FC). However, the stadium still has only a roofed stand, no plastic chair system due to not being upgraded and repaired.
In 2016, the province approved the detailed planning of the province's sports complex, including a stadium in the west of Thai Nguyen City. Recently, the Provincial People's Council has officially approved this investment policy. Accordingly, the stadium has a scale of 22,000 seats, covered with modern equipment to ensure sufficient conditions as an international football field, with an area of 15.47 hectares in Phuc Triu commune, Thai Nguyen city.
The project has a total investment of over VND 309 billion from the central budget and additional capital from land-use revenue, sale of assets on land, transfer of land use rights, and other legal capital. The project, divided into two phases, will finish in the second quarter of 2025.
The government and locals believe that the project will be implemented on schedule, contributing to raising Thai Nguyen city's urban level, solving the sport needs of athletes and locals, and affirming the position of a central province in the Northern midland and mountainous region.
