Samsung makes efforts and continues to develop in Thai Nguyen

That is the affirmation of Mr. Choi Joo Ho, the General Director of Samsung Vietnam, at the meeting with leaders of Thai Nguyen province on March 17. Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly of the province welcomed and worked with the delegation of Samsung Vietnam.

At the meeting, Mr. Choi Joo Ho, General Director of Samsung Vietnam, affirmed that Samsung always receives the attention, facilitation and companionship of all levels, sectors and people of the province during nearly 10 years. From an initial project, Samsung Electronics Vietnam - Thai Nguyen Company(SEVT) was started in March 2013, with the capital of 2 billion USD, after 1 year, the project has increased by 3 billion USD.

After that, Samsung kept its promise to increase investment capital and expand production. Recently, Samsung raised an additional capital of 1,187 million USD in Samsung Electro-Mechanics Vietnam factory in Yen Binh Industrial Park, bringing its total investment in Thai Nguyen to more than 7.5 billion USD.

Leaders of Samsung Viet nam units in Thai Nguyen pledged to maintain stable production efforts to grow in 2022 and continue to invest in testing semi-conductor chip ball mesh products in May 2023, then putting into operation in November 2023. Samsung Thai Nguyen sets a growth target of 5 percent.

Mr. Choi Joo Ho also affirmed: "Recent information about Samsung moving its smartphone production line from Vietnam to India is not correct. These products are manufactured in India mainly for the domestic market and a small part of these products is exported to African countries. Samsung products manufactured in Vietnam are exported to 128 countries and territories around the world. Therefore, the output of Samsung factories in Vietnam is not affected by factories in India.”

At the meeting, the two sides discussed some issues related to the global minimum tax policy. Accordingly, Samsung hopes that the Vietnamese Government will soon develop a mechanism to adapt to this policy.

The leader of Thai Nguyen province said that Samsung's activities in the province had made great contributions, had a strong impact on Thai Nguyen's orientation to develop the industry towards modernity, and changes in the structure of labor. Thereby contributing to the impressive results of indicators of economic growth, budget revenue in recent years.

Regarding the recommendations of Samsung Vietnam at the meeting, the provincial leader committed to support, accompany, propose and recommend to the National Assembly and the Vietnam Government to consider in building a mechanism to adapt to the global minimum tax policy, to soon remove Samsung's difficulties in Thai Nguyen province in particular and Vietnam in general. She commited to maintain and promote the role of "global production base" of Samsung Group in Vietnam, actively contributing to the socio-economic development of the province as well as the whole country.
