Starting construction of Cho Moi - Bac Kan expressway project

On March 15, the Cho Moi - Bac Kan expressway project, nearly 29km long with a total investment of 5,750 billion VND, was officially started.

The Cho Moi - Bac Kan Expressway Project was approved by the Government and approved by the Ministry of Construction in Decision No. 666/QD-BGTVT dated May 24, 2024 with the starting point of the project connecting the Thai Nguyen - Cho Moi Expressway, Cho Moi District, the end point of the project connecting the Bac Kan - Cao Bang Expressway (Bac Kan City, Bac Kan Province). The total length is about 28.8km.

The route is designed according to highway standards with a speed of 80km/h, 4 complete expressway lanes with a 22m wide roadbed, 20.5m wide road surface with 4 intersections, including the construction of intersections with QL.2.

The total investment is 5,750 billion VND using state budget capital and invested by Project Management Board 2 (Ministry of Construction). The project implementation period is 24 months, ensuring basic completion in 2026.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh said that Bac Kan has great development potential, especially in the fields of agriculture - forestry, processing industry and eco-tourism. The investment in the Cho Moi - Bac Kan expressway will connect Bac Kan with Hanoi capital and Hai Phong international seaport through a modern road transport system.

At the same time, reduce transportation time and costs, support investment attraction; strengthen regional linkages, connect localities, develop high-quality agricultural areas and valuable specialized agricultural production areas. Develop a system of resort tourism areas to attract domestic and foreign tourists in Bac Kan and Cao Bang.

According to the leader of the People's Committee of Bac Kan province, after 8 months of implementing compensation, support and resettlement work, the project has so far ensured the conditions to organize the groundbreaking ceremony.

In the coming time, Bac Kan province will continue to speed up the site clearance progress; proactively coordinate research and propose solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles in terms of mechanisms and policies in the implementation of the Project.
