Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attends groundbreaking ceremony of infrastructure investment project for Viet Bac Highland Schools

On the afternoon of January 11, at Viet Bac Highland School in Quyet Thang Ward, Thai Nguyen Province, the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs and Religion held a groundbreaking ceremony for a project to upgrade facilities at Viet Bac Highland School and the university preparatory schools under the Ministry.

The program was organized at the main venue at Viet Bac Highland School, with two satellite venues at the Ho Chi Minh City University Preparatory School and the Sam Son Ethnic Minority University Preparatory School. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the ceremony at the Viet Bac Highland School venue.

The facilities investment project for Viet Bac Highland School has a total investment of nearly VND 300 billion. The project reflects the Party and the State’s strong commitment to education and training, particularly for children from ethnic minority communities.

With nearly seven decades of formation and development, the school has welcomed close to 60,000 students from 32 ethnic minority groups across 21 mountainous provinces from Quang Binh northwards, including more than 600 students from small ethnic minority groups. The facilities are scheduled to be completed in September 2026, in time to welcome students for the new academic year.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented 60 gifts to ethnic minority students and outstanding, exemplary students of Viet Bac Highland School, and donated three classrooms to the school for foreign languages, arts, and information technology. General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, also presented 50 gifts to outstanding and exemplary students of Viet Bac Highland School.
