The seas and islands are not only a sacred part of the nation’s territory, but also a great source of inspiration in the journey of young people’s growth. Books serve as a bridge that helps the younger generation gain a deeper understanding, stronger affection, and a greater sense of responsibility toward the homeland. In response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, many meaningful activities have been held in Thai Nguyen, not only inspiring a passion for reading but also spreading love for the country’s seas and islands and fostering a sense of responsibility toward the Fatherland.

More than just exhibition items, maps, atlases, and books about Vietnam’s seas and islands have become vivid narratives about the nation during Book and Reading Culture Day events. Through these materials, young people can explore more fully the country’s land, sea, and airspace - inseparable parts of national sovereignty.

Student Ngo Nhat Linh from Class 10A2, Thai Nguyen Provincial Continuing Education Center, said: “I will continue studying, improving my awareness, and continue preserving and protecting the Fatherland.”

Student Nguyen Thi Lan from Class 11A5, Thai Nguyen Provincial Continuing Education Center, shared: “I will read more books so that I can better understand history and the past that our ancestors built this country upon, so that I can strive harder.”

Through a series of activities in response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2026, Youth Union, Youth Association, and Young Pioneer Organization units across Thai Nguyen Province have created many useful learning and reading spaces for children and young people.

Practical activities included book introduction contests, donations of bookcases, bookcases about President Ho Chi Minh, law bookcases, and the development of reading spaces. From the pages of books, a journey toward the nation’s seas and islands is also opened, helping the younger generation understand more, love more, and take greater responsibility for national sovereignty.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Youth Union and Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam National Union of Students in Thai Nguyen Province, stressed: “This is one of a series of activities organized by Youth Union units at all levels across Thai Nguyen Province to promote education on law and sovereignty over borders, seas, and islands for Youth Union members and young people, thereby helping improve political steadfastness and awareness, especially among pupils and students”.

Beyond reading and introducing books, many book contents, especially those related to history, seas and islands, and Vietnam’s revolution, have been adapted into skits, short plays, and stage performances to spread the message more widely. Through both online and in-person activities, pupils and students are able to exchange and interact, contributing to greater awareness and fostering a sense of responsibility toward national sovereignty.
